In principle, foreign nationals holding a valid residence permit (temporary or permanent) issued by the relevant authorities in Serbia or Montenegro are eligible to apply for a visa at our Embassy. The Embassy of Japan in Belgrade does not accept visa applications from individuals who are temporarily staying in Serbia or Montenegro as tourists, short-term business travelers, or those transiting through either country.
Non-residents of the Republic of Serbia or Montenegro who require a visa to enter Japan must apply at the Embassy or Consulate of Japan in their country of residence.
If you are applying for a short-term stay visa, your temporary residence permit must be valid for the entire duration of your planned stay in Japan. If applying for a long-term stay visa, your temporary residence permit must remain valid throughout your stay in Serbia or Montenegro prior to departure.
Please note that we do not accept certificates or confirmations of ongoing residence permit extension procedures. Applicants who are currently in the process of extending their residence permits are not eligible to apply for a visa.
Before you start the procedure for visa application, designate the type of visa you need based on the duration and purpose of your visit to Japan.
